I am going on a unique volunteer-plus-surfing trip in Costa Rica late this month. We will spend a few hours of surfing and the rest patrolling around the natural habitat to protect sea turtles. The trip is not cheap (appx $2000/week, see below), but I have always wanted to give my thanks back to the ocean for letting me surf, so this is the trip for me. To enable me to participate in this trip, I have decided to do this on-line fund raising here.
In Costa Rica, population of sea turtles (leather-backed, olive- ridley, hawksbill) has been under a threat by the poaching and selling of their illegal eggs on the black-market. But on going effort to save the turtle in ten years has reduced the poaching rate from 95% to 10%. It is important not to raise the rate again, so I am going to help them even just for one week. My project will be taken place in a remote area called Playa Buena Vista, close to Samara in Nicoya Peninsula.
This is not only a matter of turtles. They are one of the species in our ecosystem on the earth where we all live together, and we are all connected. Saving turtles is saving ocean and the earth, and saving all the related species, including us.
Precisely, I would like to raise $2000. This includes the cost for the trip ($1195), air fare ($538), and miscellaneous cost (insurance, items for the trip), not including the pay I lose for taking time off from work!
If you care about our healthy environment, please support my trip. If you can, I thank you so much, and please make sure to shoot me an e-mail: seaocean29@yahoo.com. I would like to thank every one of you and let you know how my trip went when I return. Please click on the button at upper right or down below for donation. ANY amount is appreciated.
FYI, certainly this is not a scam. The trip is coordinated by the well trusted organization i-to-i. http://www.i-to-i.com/
I can send you a copy of Letter of Support, written by the organization for my fundraising. Sorry, I couldn’t figure out how to post it on this site.
Thank you again for taking time to read my page!
